Welcome to the website of the Iowa Food Cooperative (IFC). The IFC unites Iowa producers and consumers to facilitate the direct sale of Iowa-grown food and other Iowa-made products. We value and cultivate farmer-consumer relationships, environmental stewardship, and enhanced rural sustainability. The IFC strives to be a business that is financially viable, environmentally sustainable and socially just.
The essential business of the IFC is to provide a web-based marketplace of Iowa-grown food for willing buyers and sellers. At no time does the cooperative take title to any of the products. We have no inventory. The products that go through our distribution system are owned by our producer members, who then sell these products directly to our consumer members.
Acting as an agent of producer members, the Iowa Food Cooperative provides a web-based system for producers to post the foods and goods they have for sale, receives orders from consumer members, facilitates the delivery of these products to the cooperative's distribution sites, collects money from the consumer members who have purchased these products, and forwards payments to the producers.
Acting as an agent for consumer members, we provide an online catalog of Iowa-produced foods and goods. We take orders via the web-based system, notify the appropriate producers, help producers coordinate the delivery of products to distribution sites, and receive and process consumer payments.
